OUR MASSIVE “NATIONAL DEBT”
I found myself in a conversation today about America’s “National Debt” with a young patient who is working her way through college.
Knowing from the reading material in my office reception area that I follow politics closely; my young patient asked what all the discussion “ON-lINE” about America’s National Debt was about.
Tongue in cheek………I told her, “at my age, I’m not worried about America’s National Debt because she and her future children would be paying for most of it”.
And I added that there was no way government could tax the fruits of our labor enough to ever pay off this National Debt; so it was her generation’s problem to solve. (But There Is A Way)
This startled her.
And she responded that, “her employer takes enough from her paycheck to surely cover what government needs to pay for”.
Taking that lead; I redirected the conversation to the fact she would never benefit from the withholding dollars taken from the paycheck she earned at her evening job………yet her grandparents and I depend upon those dollars for our future retirement.
She wasn’t sure how she felt about this, but before long was saying that it was unfair that some people like the poor, the elderly, the disadvantaged, even some children in America often times had less than others.
Somehow she thought; maybe it was the government’s job to make sure those people were taken care of which justified the taxes taken from her paycheck.
I redirected again and was surprised, though I probably should not have been, that my young patient had not heard of Karl Marx and the “Communist Manifesto”. (PUBLIC SCHOOLS)
She was equally unaware of the socialist concept of “Social Justice” as in fairness and equality of outcome.
I tried to explain to her that progressively taking money from successful people and redistributing it to those who didn’t earn it was a concept written about by Karl Marx. (#2 Communist Manifesto)
Marx promoted this as a means to control the people and develop a voting block of people made up of takers in society.
This group of people would be willing to give up part of their freedom and liberty if government would only take care of them.
I explained that in 1913 Woodrow Wilson and a group of other temporary politicians managed to pass the 16th Amendment to our nation’s Constitution.
For over 100 years now, the Income Tax System created by the 16th Amendment has allowed our government to do just what Karl Marx suggested.
My young patient seemed stuck on “the young”, “the poor”, “the disadvantaged” and how government needed to take care of them until I changed the subject a third time and asked her what kind of grades she was getting in school.
She proudly told me she was maintaining nearly a 4.0 GPA while working evenings to support herself.
I suggested that possibly her college wasn’t being fair to those students who, for reasons possibly beyond their control, couldn’t study as hard as her.
And when I suggested that maybe those good grades of hers should be shared with the less motivated students in her class so everything would be fair and equal she was repulsed.
Then “IT WAS LIKE A LIGHT CAME ON IN HER MIND” as she realized the subject had not changed.
The only way to save future generations from the tyranny of our massive “National Debt” is to grow our economy and this won’t happen until our Income Tax System is permanently eliminated by REPEALING the 16th Amendment.
And don’t be fooled by talk of “TAX REFORM” by itself.
All Tax Reform is Temporary unless the 16th Amendment is Repealed.
Talk to people within your sphere of influence because concepts like this are…”not passed in the blood stream”.
